KLINE is proud to announce that our founder and CEO, Don Kline, has been appointed Chair of ACI-PTI 320: The national committee behind the design code for post-tensioned concrete buildings.
Back in May, the KLINE team swapped laptops for lumberjack vibes and headed out for a day of axe throwing as part of our annual spring outing.
KLINE Engineering proudly sponsored the 31st Annual Manassas Rotary Club Golf Tournament, raising over $40,000 to support the Georgetown South Community Council Foundation and its vital programs for local families in Manassas, VA.
KLINE has acquired Wolfman and Associates, a leading structural engineering firm with nearly 40 years of expertise in wood-framed design, renovations, and forensic evaluations.
Thank you to the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) for recognizing our project "Reviving Heritage: Surfside’s Journey from Historic Landmark to Luxury Haven" with the PTI 2025 Award of Excellence in the Industrial or Special Applications category.
KLINE is proud to receive the 2024 Award of Merit from the International Concrete Repair Institute for its work on The Villas in Surfside, FL. This project preserved the architectural heritage of a 1936 landmark while transforming it into a luxury development, using innovative techniques like a hybrid post-tensioned slab system.
After 17 years of a firm commitment to innovation and growth, we believe it's time to redefine and revitalize our guiding principles to fuel our continued success; hence, our new 6 core values.
Congratulations to Don Kline for being awarded the 2023 Post-Tensioning Institute James R. Cagley Award for the Most Active Technical Committee Chair.

Post-tensioning is known for saving space and cost, but its lesser-known benefits might surprise you. From sustainability and seismic performance to design freedom and long-term durability, explore six reasons PT should be on every architect’s radar.
Stage stressing in PT transfer elements can be a game-changer, but it’s often misunderstood. This blog tackles the top contractor FAQs, offering practical answers and tips for safe, efficient execution of high-stress concrete members.
Think PT is too complex, too rigid, or too risky? Think again. We’re busting the top myths about post-tensioned structures, from coring concerns to below-grade applications, so engineers and architects can design smarter and build better.
As demand for mixed-use developments rises, so does the use of post-tensioned concrete podium slabs. Discover why they’re the go-to solution for supporting mid-rise structures, maximizing underground space, and unlocking design flexibility, all while reducing costs and enhancing performance.
Drop panels in prestressed slabs don’t follow the same sizing rules as conventional concrete. This blog explains the key differences and offers practical guidelines to help engineers optimize drop panel design for punching shear and flexural capacity.
Average prestress (P/A) plays a critical role in slab and beam behavior. Learn the sweet spot for performance, when too little leads to cracking and too much causes shortening issues, and explore pragmatic guidelines for various structure types.
The load balancing method, introduced by T.Y. Lin, remains one of the most powerful design tools in post-tensioned concrete. This blog breaks down how it works, when to use it, and how to apply it—yes, even with hand calculations.
