North America’s First Elevated SigmaSlab® | Richmond Square, Providence

A North American first in Providence, Rhode Island!
Kline Engineering & Consulting, LLC, CCL - Specialised Engineered Solutions for Structures, Bekaert, and Raycon Construction LLC made history by placing the first elevated SigmaSlab® in North America at Richmond Square Apartments in Providence, Rhode Island.

SigmaSlab® is an engineered system that combines CCL USA Inc. post-tensioning with distributed Dramix® steel fibers to deliver superior structural performance and a simpler construction process in two-way slab construction.

The steel fibers provide reinforcement equivalent to top and bottom mesh throughout the entire slab. This eliminates the bottom mat of rebar and adds distributed reinforcement that conventional two-way post-tensioned slabs typically don’t have. The result is faster installation and placement, reduced labor, and a shorter construction schedule, with benefits that grow with project scale.

We’re grateful to our partners for their guidance, support, and trust. We’re proud of what this team accomplished and excited about what it means for the future of elevated two-way slab construction. KLINE is proud to serve as the EOR for this project and to help bring this innovative system to life.
