Mathewos T. Michael P.E., 

Southeast regional manager

Mathewos Michael is Kline’s Southeast Regional Manager and Senior Associate. Mathewos holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer, PE, in Washington DC and North Carolina.

With a strong background in construction project management and over 20 years of experience, Mathewos has directly led a number of complex building projects in North Carolina such as designing the elevated slabs for all floor plates of the Two Legacy Union building in Charlotte.

He is proficient in a wide variety of software systems, including Adapt PT, Adapt Builder, ETAB, Ram Steel, Ram Element, Risa, Sap2000, CFS designer, Enercalc, and Tedds. He has designed post-tensioned structures and reinforced concrete structures, wood structures, steel structures, and cold-formed steel structures. Mathewos is Kline’s Operational excellence leader and is an active member of ASCE, SEA, and ACI.

Mathewos is well-known in the industry for his strong emphasis on accuracy, and efficiency in everything he does. He takes great pride in being responsive to his clients’ needs and providing detailed documentation that helps Kline’s projects move forward smoothly.

Mathewos Michael’s passion for engineering stems from a keen interest in improving human lives through creativity and innovative design. A native of Sudan, Mathewos was raised in Eritrea before emigrating to the U.S. with his family. As a result of his upbringing, Mathewos is fluent in several languages including English, Tigrigna, Arabic, and Amharic. The rich blend of cultural and social traditions he experienced during his youth lends Mathewos a unique approach to structural engineering and client interaction.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Mathewos constantly seeks new opportunities to learn and advance his skill set, which is one of the many reasons he enjoys working with Kline Engineering.
