Mathewos Michael is a Principal at KLINE and serves as Southeast Regional Manager based in our Charlotte, NC office. Promoted to Principal in 2025, he oversees a large portfolio of projects across the Southeast market, bringing more than 20 years of experience in structural engineering and construction project management.

Mathewos specializes in value engineering for highly complex buildings, consistently delivering efficient and constructible solutions without sacrificing performance or quality. His work includes major developments such as the Aman Hotel in Miami and the Two Legacy Union tower in Charlotte, where he led the post-tensioned slab design across all floor plates.

Known for his calm leadership and collaborative approach, Mathewos blends engineering precision with real-world construction insight. He is KLINE’s Operational Excellence Leader and is highly proficient in a wide array of structural systems and design software, including ADAPT PT, RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, and Enercalc.

A licensed Professional Engineer in Washington, D.C. and North Carolina, Mathewos is also an active member of ASCE, SEA, and ACI. His strong commitment to responsiveness and documentation clarity helps ensure smooth project delivery, even on the most complex jobs.

Originally from Eritrea and Sudan, Mathewos is fluent in English, Tigrigna, Arabic, and Amharic. His multicultural background informs both his leadership style and client relationships, making him a trusted and adaptable presence on any team.
